Chicken Dinner Winner!!

We had a great weekend! Rizzle, Steve-O, Cody and Christy all came in town!! Cody and Slade played in a golf tournament and Steve-O was their sponsor. Turned out to be a good investment because they won their flight! Only problem with investing in your children...you probably won't see any of the winnings. Oops!

Knox LOVED getting to have a whole weekend with Rizzle! I am pretty sure it's a mutual adoration! All in all it was a great weekend and we had so much fun with the fam!

Love me some Rizzle!

"I think Mommy might be in a bad mood"

It's me Knox. I have a double ear infection plus a stomach bug, but that is the least of my problems! Yesterday, I think my mommy almost killed my daddy. Let me go back...

I have been a little plugged up so mom gave me some medicine to make things "go a little smoother" but what she didn't know is that I was getting a tummy bug. SO add my prunes plus the bug and as you can imagine things got a little dicy. I was hanging out in my jumper when it came on..rumble, rumble...my tummy. I was in bad shape. So I thought, that's what diapers are for and kept jumping! Mom walks by and it goes a little something like this...

Mom looks over at me cause let's face it, I stink. She grabs me to throw me on her hip to go change me..WAIT! Oops too late. I feel it squeeze out of the diaper...mom is focused on getting me changed so she doesn't notice.  She tells me "man, you are really wet too!" Um yeah, about that...

She puts me on the changing pad I feel it squish against my back. Woman if you would just hold on, you are making this much worse! She pulls up my legs and that's when it all clicks. Her eyes dart to my face, my clothes, and then HER clothes. Yes, mother that's what I meant when my face got all red... It is all over the back of my legs, on my toes, up my back, all over the changing table, and even in my toenails! It's also on mom's shirt  and when she put me on her hip...you guessed it..it went all over her shorts and down the waistband. I've got talent.

She takes me strait to the tub, do not pass go or collect $200...strips me down then herself cause I have gotten it ALL over her. I am in the tub and she is hosing me off when I slip..basically she caught me and my feet just slipped but it scared me so then I started screaming. I was ticked! She pulls me out of the tub and when she does, the stuff she hadn't washed off yet gets all over the bath mat. To her credit, Mom doesn't freak out but I can tell she is getting flustered. She drains the tub, starts over and gives me a bath. I don't think it dawned on her to get in with me to wash herself off. She gets me clean and is holding me in a towel away from her body cause she is still "christened" when she hears dad.

"Slade! Can you come help me a sec?"

He walks in saying "why does it smell so bad in here?" "You know there is poop on the floor under the jumper" and sees me in a towel and mom in the buff with her bottom half covered in poo. Ya, Dad, I think she knows that...

"Here, if you can take him, put this diaper on him and let me jump in the shower really quick. But don't take him to the changing table cause it's dirty too."

Dad takes me towards the changing table

"I said DON'T change him in there!"

Then he does it....

looks right at me and says, "I think Mommy might be in a bad mood!"

I saw her face. No lie, if he wasn't holding me, she would have form tackled him and then beat him to death with the diaper.

He sees her face too and then backtracks....

"I mean, what happened?"

then she lost it...

"Well Slade..... he S**T everywhere!!!"

Well put mamma, way to point out the obvious....

So dad...she wasn't really in a bad mood but I kinda think she is now.

All I want for Christmas...

Is NOT my two front teeth...cause I already got em! It's me, Knox and I have had a rough few days. I grew my own teeth! They are the front two on the bottom and they are real beauties! The whole "cutting teeth" thing wasn't the most pleasant. I am not gonna lie, I was VERY glad to see them cause in all honesty I wasn't sure I was going to get any! All my friends already grew theirs! It doesn't matter how cool my hair is, if I looked like an old man with no teeth....that would NOT be good! Mom has been trying to get a picture for a while now and finally today Adele made me laugh so she got one.
Here they are!

10 Months old!

Knox is 10 months old today! I can't believe it. I feel like I just had him and yet like he's always been here. At 10 months he is a little person and no longer my baby...could be because I am thinking he is going to be bigger than me when he's four.

At 10 months he:
  • loves his mamma....he has gotten VERY clingy. Cute yet kind of annoying.
  • has started to eat big people food
  • isn't crawling but scooting...mostly backwards
  • says "dada" and "baba" plus lots of squealing and grunting
  • loves to laugh...thinks daddy, mommy and Grandad are Hilarious!
  • loves to be outside
  • wants to walk very badly
  • still takes one morning and afternoon nap
  • has graduated to size 5 diapers
  • weighs around 22lbs
  • has TWO teeth
  • likes Wonder Pets, Dora, and anything that has music
  • favorite toy is my iphone
  • still learning baby sign language
  • wearing 12-18 month clothes
  • wears size 4 shoes

S.C.R.A.B.B.L.E COOKIES

Tonight we did something I have yet to do in my 27 years of life....we went to a scrabble party. Adele is living here for a bit and after knee surgery she decided to have a "scrabble party" to socialize. It was a great time, but honestly Slade and I's scrabble playing was ABYSMAL1 Thank goodness for good company. The Bundys, Whitmires (older and younger) and Ketners made for great company so as not to dwell on the fact that my brain was functioning not much better than a 5yr old.

I went over to Adele's this afternoon and we made "scrabble cookies" from SCRAT3H4 and they turned out pretty stinkin cute! Plus, as an added bonus they actually tasted good!
I'll have you know, the letters are numerically correct according to real scrabble pieces (we checked)

Adele also made us a plate of cookies to go for Knox but since he has yet to try sugar, his father has taken one for the team and eaten his. Always thinking of others, that Slade.

I got the recipe from www.plainchicken.com and they are really easy and yummy.

Sugar Cookies
Our Best Bites
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 tsp almond extract
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy- about 2 minutes. Add in egg and extract and mix to incorporate.

In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt and whisk to combine. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until completely combined.

Roll dough between 2 sheets of waxed or parchment paper and then place on a flat surface in the fridge. Chill for about 20-30 minutes and then start cutting out cookies.

Bake at 350 for 8-12 minutes - just until the bottoms start to brown. (This will depend on how big your cookies are) Remove from oven, allow to cool completely. You may frost them at this point or store them in the freezer until you are ready to decorate them.

Glace Icing

1 lb powdered sugar (about 3 3/4 cups)
6 Tbsp whole milk
6 Tbsp light Corn Syrup
1 tsp almond extract

With a whisk, combine sugar and milk until smooth. Then stir in corn syrup and extract.

You will use this same recipe for both glazing and piping. Take your glazing icing and separate it into bowls if you want to color it.

The way it is right now is the consistency you want for glazing. It's smooth and thin. It easily runs off the whisk in a pretty thin drizzle.

To prepare the icing for piping, you just add more powdered sugar until it is hard to whisk.

Vail

Here are more of our pics from our Great Mountain Adventure. I have tons of pictures and it's taking me a bit to go through them!

One afternoon the weather was beautiful so we decided to get the bambinos outside and have a picnic for lunch instead of going into town. Our yard was under construction like everything else, so we headed over to the neighbors yard.

such a great day

Libby or "bibby" teaching the little one's to roll down the hill

Knox trying to give me a model pose. We had to do a hat because he got a little sunburned the day before. Oops.

So over the hat

Not sure what's going on here but it looks like Baily is taking after her mother and teaching me some Zumba.
I know it's the angle but is it weird that I don't look that much taller than a 2 yr old??

loving on my boy

Molly came to join in the fun

Such a sweet picture! Bibby and Baily walking away.

That night we got a babysitter and the ladies headed to Kelly Liken for dinner. She has a restaurant in Vail and is currently on this season of Top Chef. The food was great but the dessert was AMAZING! It was a set menu so everyone got the same dessert which was some type of peach doughnut thing and ice cream. I thought, HA! someone isn't going to like theirs and i'll just steal it. Um, not so much! Everyone cleaned their plates..ugh! We also got the pleasure of our good friends Tommy and Kay Clanton joining us.  Poor Tommy was the only man to EIGHT women! Granted, that was the average for guys at TCU in my day since the ratio was 7:1 but still we can be an overwhelming bunch. It looked like he was the Sheik and we his harem. We were so glad to see them and their grandson is Knox so hopefully the two Knoxes can meet soon.

The ladies...not sure what's going on with Mom's shirt.

Knox had so much fun with all of his cousins!

I LOVE these VACATION things!

It's me Knox. I love Vacations!! I wrote this while on vacation but just realized it didn't post. But, I have had a bit of a rough start. I don't know what it is about my mother but I swear the woman goes on vacation and it's like she leaves her brain at home! First off, I tried to let her know on the flight that I DID NOT feel good but she just thought I was being a pill. HA! All this snot I have been wiping on her shirts showed her! THEN she let me fall off the bed...I mean WHAT?!?! Okay, I'll admit....I maybe didn't advertise the fact that I was moving around quite so well. She had no idea that I would roll... but still. Granted, she felt awful and I have totally milked it for the last few days.

The Baily's neighbor in Park City is a pediatrician and I LOVE her. She helped Mom get me all fixed up. I think now Mom loves her too. She makes me laugh and I won't laugh at anyone else. Well, I did meet a Frenchmen the other night and I thought he was really funny too...he talks a little strange though.

We had a really busy day yesterday. Got up early and played with Baily and Molly. Then we napped. After we all woke up, we went to the park for lunch. I loved the park! Molly and I were on the swings together and would laugh at each other. Poor Molly, I gave her my cold but she is handling it much better than I. Or at least it "seems that way"...but here's the kicker...she's got a big sister...I don't...my mom has more attention to coddle me....I am gonna make her work for it.

After the park we all came home and took naps. Mom and Brooke went to the outlet mall and bought me some clothes. I am growing out of mine really quickly.

I loved Utah! It was beauty-full. I have not converted to Mormanism even though that really seems to be the thing to do up here. I do, however, have my own opinion on the whole polygamy thing that seems to be such a hit here. What's the big deal? I have had Mom, Brooke and Tricia taking care of me and personally form a "baby point of view" the whole sister-wives thing totally works!! It just means more attention for me! Mom say's that while she wants me to form my own opinions..this one she is going to decide for me...and it's gonna be a no-go.

The trip to Vail was a bit of a bust for me. I was just over the whole traveling thing. I didn't feel good and I didn't get a good nap so I just whined for the first hour at least. Not like a full out cry, but just the whine/moan thing that really drives mom nuts. Again, show her not to neglect me...two can play this game! I did fall asleep and then was in a much better mood. I watched all the movies with the girls but drew the line at "Tinkerbell." You can stick me with girls, put bows on me, but I gotta draw the line somewhere. Brooke tried to tell me that there were "boy" fairies in it! Ummm not even gonna touch that one.....

When we got to Vail, Mom stuck me in the bathroom that is now my room. To block out the noise she has a fan turned on and my noise maker that sounds like rain turned all the way up......I feel like I am sleeping in a monsoon! BUT it works!

Alright gotta go play....more to come later!

Fly Fishing

One afternoon in Vail, I got the pleasure of my very own private fly fishing lesson. My instructor, Brooke, was very patient with me and tied all my flies, fetched my flies, taught me how and where to cast. She even wears a fancy little fishing vest with everything you could ever need in it..most of which I had never even heard of. We even had our own paparazzi...she had mad photography skills, but she mostly read her book.  I got six "strikes" but didn't hook one..the only thing my instructor forgot to tell me is what to do when the fish bites! One thing I DID catch was 4 trees!!! Brooke caught 2 fish! I loved learning to fish and no lie, the beautiful bubbling stream was a little more peaceful than a house full of seven babes!
