Alfalfa

When we got home from the ranch last weekend, I went over to my parents to get Knox. I pulled up and it was odd but he wouldn't even look at me. Then he turned around....and I knew why! Poor kid was embarrassed for his mother to see him that way! My father, while giving Knox a bath, decided to change up his "do" a bit. Yep, strait up went with the Alfalfa. Mom and Dad thought it was hysterical...and no lie, he looked pretty cute/amazingly dorky. Me, being one to always keep my true thoughts to myself, immediately blurted out, "What the hell did you do to my child!?!" They had just gotten back from lunch, so I pray people who saw him at lunch don't think I honestly do his hair this way..... I have a feeling this will be one of those photos that he will NOT be so proud of later in life. I took it on my phone so it's kind of hard to see but Mom has some from her camera, so hopefully I'll get those.
The intended look......

Knox...notice the little point at the back of his head...he also looks SUPER happy about it :)

Ok, I so don't want this many pics of me like this Mom!!

Highchair!

Knox has finally graduated from the bumbo to a big boy highchair....It MIIIGHTt have been because his thighs were a little too large for the bumbo and it MIIIGHT have taken two people to get him out. One in the front pulling him and the other in the back pulling the bumbo. He got his daddy's tree trunks...err I mean, legs.
He loves his highchair!

Exhausted...

I came in to find Knox completely tapped out after practicing crawling...poor kid.

Cracking himself up....

Rizzle came to town to see Knox and he just had to show her his new "thing." Basically, he squeals at a decibel that should not be used by a male..ever...and then dies laughing at himself...he thinks he is super funny....

Kimbell Ranch!

We had a fabulous weekend this past weekend! The Pitts were so nice to invite us to the Kimbell Ranch and it was full of great fellowship and great food! We headed out Sat. morning and Knox went to spend the night with my parents. It was overcast and rainy on Sat. so it looked like it was going to be kind of a blah day but then at the perfect time the sun came out! We went to a natural spring called the "bathtub" and whomever named it does NOT take baths like I do because it was FREEZING. Like you jump in and all your internal organs blip because they freeze up....ya, cold. But after a while and the constant moving you have to do to stay upright due to the slippery rocks, your body slightly adjusts...slightly. Speaking of slippery rocks....Slader almost re-arranged his face on a rock. I was heading up the stream when I heard a round of gasps behind me to find my sweet husband face planted in a rocky stream. He slipped and broke his fall with his cheek....BUT he was okay! Even after a massive face plant, on the way back he still carried me through the muddy puddles so my shoes wouldn't get dirty.....I mean all he needs is a massive shoulder tattoo and I have my very own Jacob Black!  All in all it was SUPER FUN and we can't wait to go back!

Looks like something off the bachelor.....Matt with all his ladies....Lisa W, Amy K, Brooke C, Lindsey H, Ruth D, and Lindsey S.

Team CH Rocks!

A special shout out/ Thanks to my unbelievable Uncle Cody and Aunt Christy who drove in last night after a long day of work just to see me and have dinner with me! Uncle Cody is driving to Houston today and Christy has another long day of teacher training so going 4 hrs for dinner was above and beyond! I LOVED getting to see them and I'm pretty sure the feeling was mutual. Mom and Dad really liked getting to see them too! So thanks guys! You are the best!!
Love, Knox

Indoor S'mores....not for the faint hearted!

A couple of weekends ago we went to the lake with Bo and Brooke and for dessert one night, we had S'mores. I probably haven't had a S'more since camp and quite honestly forgot how delicious they were. Plus the way I figure it, it has one graham cracker, one marshmallow and minimal chocolate so it can't be that bad for ya! I have been craving them ever since.

So, Knox and I were supposed to be in Ft. Worth today but he got sick and my car battery died :( so we ended up not making it. This change of plans freed me up to go to the grocery store this morning and I think Cody and Christy are coming for dinner so I needed to get some stuff. It's like the little grocery store elves were in my head. I turn the corner and on the end of an aisle is all the makings for.. you guessed it...S'mores. I think to myself, matter of fact, I would like S'more! (pun intended)

I get home and while Knox is napping it dawns on me that I don't have an open flame for my S'mores. I was not going to fire up the grill for ONE S'more. Never one to let something deter me, especially when it comes to food, I decide that I will improvise. I put the marshmallow on a paper towel and stick it in the microwave. Funny thing is, I am not an idiot....I KNOW what happens when you put a marshmallow in the microwave. I can only blame it on lack of sleep. They EXPLODE. Or at least they do when you put it in there for 30 seconds...again, really Linds? Yup, all over the microwave. So consider this your public service announcement....Don't try to make S'mores in the microwave. Bad idea. Plus, Marshmallow...not the easiest to clean up.

By this point, this had become a bit of a mission. So here is what I did...I put the marshmallow back in the microwave...yes I know...BUT this time I watched it! So when it got a little puffy, after like 3 seconds,  I pulled it out and smacked it between my graham crackers.....it was glorious!

So if you need a fun dessert this summer, might I suggest S'mores....but maybe do it on a night when you are grilling out!
